How the 10 days run

Weekend by weekend

Every weekend follows the studio rhythm: teach → build → critique. You work on a real project throughout — yours or a live brief — so learning compounds instead of evaporating.

Weekend 1 · Foundations & audit

Systems thinking, token architecture, and a structured audit of a real product's UI debt — you leave with a prioritised refactor map.

Weekend 2 · Tokens & primitives

Build the token layer: colour, type, space, radius — wired into Figma variables and modes, with accessibility contrast baked in.

Weekend 3 · Components

Component anatomy, variants and properties; build the core kit — buttons, inputs, cards, navigation — to production standard.

Weekend 4 · Documentation & handoff

Usage guidelines, do/don't examples, Dev Mode handoff; a developer joins to pressure-test your documentation live.

Weekend 5 · Governance & showcase

Versioning, contribution models, adoption strategy; present your system to the group and an invited systems lead for critique.

What you'll learn

Skills you'll actually use on Monday

  • Architect design tokens from primitives to semantic layers
  • Build resilient Figma components with variants, properties and modes
  • Write documentation developers and designers actually use
  • Set up governance: versioning, contribution and adoption
  • Audit and refactor an existing messy UI into a system

What you'll leave with

Artifacts, not just notes

  • A working mini design system for a real product
  • A governance & contribution playbook
  • A before/after refactor case study for your portfolio

Who should attend

  • Product/UI designers tired of inconsistent files
  • Design leads inheriting chaos
  • Front-end developers who partner on systems

Why only 15 seats

Small on purpose

Fifteen is the largest cohort where every participant's work can be critiqued live, every weekend, by the facilitator and peers. Bigger rooms turn workshops into webinars — and webinars don't change how you work.

Weekends only, because this is built for working professionals: no leave applications, no career pause — just ten deliberate days that compound.

Workshop FAQ

Straight answers

Do I need design system experience?
No — you need solid Figma skills and shipped UI work. We build the systems capability from first principles, fast.
Can I use my own company's product?
Yes, and we encourage it — most participants leave with a system their team adopts, which usually pays for the workshop by itself.
What if I miss a weekend?
Sessions are recorded, but the critique happens live; we allow one absence with a catch-up task, in fairness to the cohort.
Is there a certificate?
Yes — a completion certificate with a verifiable ID, plus the artifact that matters more: a real system in your portfolio.
